Pioneering the Future of Nursing

For more than fifty years, Kindai University has advanced regional health, medical care, and welfare through its Faculty of Medicine, Kindai University Hospital, and Kindai University School of Nursing. Building on this tradition, the Faculty of Nursing cultivates professionals who are loved, trusted, and respected, combining rich humanity with robust nursing practice to meet the demands of advanced medicine. Through interprofessional collaboration, we foster creativity and autonomous learning, enabling students to safeguard the lives, health, and dignity of diverse individuals and to support each person in leading a healthy and authentic life. In this way, the Faculty advances the discipline of nursing and contributes to the creation of a sustainable society. This vision is embodied in SMART Nurse—Scientific practice, Multicultural collaboration, Autonomous learning, Responsible care, and Transformative nursing—and Kindai University is committed to cultivating the Kindai SMART Nurse.

Curriculum and Facilities

The Faculty of Nursing curriculum is structured into three categories: General Education Modules, Foundation Nursing Modules, and Specialized Nursing Modules, providing a systematic framework for studying nursing.

  • General Education Modules cultivate broad perspectives and interpersonal qualities by fostering an understanding of diversity and values.
  • Foundation Nursing Modules build basic nursing competencies on a foundation of medical and social welfare knowledge.
  • Specialized Nursing Modules develop nursing competencies with a structured progression, emphasizing clinical training as well as ethical practice.

Through nursing practice, students also strengthen interprofessional collaboration and communication skills, ensuring the steady development of nursing professionals capable of contributing to society.

In addition, the Faculty offers joint classes with students from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy. These courses allow students to gain experiential understanding of each profession’s expertise and the role of nursing within interprofessional team care. By approaching challenges from multiple perspectives—including medicine, pharmacy, law, and nursing—students cultivate the ability to generate practical solutions.

Career Opportunities

Upon graduation, the Faculty provides support for students to pursue careers as nurses in university hospitals—including Kindai University Hospital and Kindai University Nara Hospital—as well as in general hospitals, or as public health nurses at health centers. Beyond clinical practice, we also guide students who wish to continue their education in graduate school or pursue careers as researchers, supporting students in developing diverse career pathways.
