Building Robots with PicoCricket

March 18, 2015
Department of Informatics

PicoCricket is a new-generation digital learning tool. It can be used to create almost any kind of work, such as sound-producing models or animals. In the Department of Informatics, students are required to take a basic seminar class in how to build robots using PicoCricket. Groups of three or four first-year students work as a team and come up with original ideas as they put together plastic Lego blocks to build robots that can produce a range of different sounds.
Through this seminar, students engage in frank debate to come up with amazing creations beyond the imagination of even the professor. By pooling their ideas, they create truly unique robotic works.
