2019年9月29から2019年10月3日に米国メリーランド州のボルチモアで開催された第11回IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE 2019)において，電気電子工学科 菅原 賢悟准教授らの研究成果がIEEE IAS Transportation Systems CommitteeのFirst Prizeの優秀論文として表彰されました。

ECCE 2019は，Industrial Power Conversion System DepartmentsにおけるRenewable and Sustainable Energy Applications，Smart Grid & Utility Applications，Datacenters and Telecommunication Applications，Transportation Electrification Applications，他7分野のセッションから構成されるIEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)の国際会議です。
1779件のダイジェスト論文のうち1068件の論文が採択（採択率60%)されました。
ECCE 2019のTransportation Electrification Application分野において，三菱電機株式会社等との共同研究の成果である"Reduction of AM Radio Noise of VVVF Inverter for Rolling Stock and Simulation Model of the Noise Current"を口頭発表し，その成果がIAS Transportation Systems CommitteeのFirst Prizeとして表彰されました。
