Professor Takayoshi Kimura Gives Final Lecture in November Hall

March 18, 2015

On January 16, 2015, Professor Takayoshi Kimura gave his final lecture in Kindai University's November Hall. Professor Kimura stressed that even as the fundamental laws of physics make the transition from classical mechanics to quantum mechanics, the study of thermodynamics has not changed at all and so remains as the fundamental laws of physics. Above all, he emphasized that the thermodynamic quantity, called Gibbs free energy and represented by the letter 'G' in the photo at right, determines what will happen in a natural system. This lecture on the natural world was worthy of a man who is a world-renowned authority on thermal measurement. Kindai University is eternally grateful for Professor Kimura's countless contributions to our institution, and we are proud of Professor Kimura's contributions to scientific education.
