Research exchange between Yonsei and Kindai: Activity Report.

During two weeks last month (17-30 Apr. 15), we had held the brainstorming workshop on gravity and string theory, having Prof. Seungjoon Hyun, Dr. Sang-Heon Yi, and graduate school students Ms. Sang-A Park, and Mr. Byoungjoon Ahn from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea), as well as Dr. Masaki Shigemori from Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University (Kyoto, Japan). Together with several students and Faculty members at our Graduate School of Science and Engineering, we had a number of stimulating discussions, including two seminar talk sessions on theoretical aspects of gravity and string theory. The discussions we had during the workshop went deep into the problems of our common interest and, hopefully, will develop into successful future collaborations.

Dr. Sang-Heon Yi (right) and Dr. Masaki Shigemori. Dr. Yi gave a talk about his recent result on conserved charges in gravity, as well as an excellent review on recent developments in this research area. Dr. Shigemori talked about quantum mechanical aspects of black hole geometry.

Ms. Sang-A Park (left) and Dr. Akihiro Ishibashi. Ms. Park talked about her recent study on holographic principle and rotating black holes. Dr. Ishibashi talked about stability of higher dimensional black holes.

A snapshot just after the seminar session on Apr. 27, with Dr. Sang-Heon Yi, Ms. Sang-A Park, Mr. Byoungjoon Ahn from Yonsei, and some of our students at Kindai.
