An Alternative Pluripotent State Confers Interspecies Chimaeric Competency (Source:Nature)

2015.05.07

A new stem-cell type with unique spatial characteristics and distinct molecular and functional features has been found by Lecturer Daiji Okamura (now at Kinki University) and his coworkers at Salk Institute for Biological Studies.

The cells are named "region-selective pluripotent stem cells (rsPSCs)", which can be efficiently obtained from mouse embryos and primate pluripotent stem cells including humans, by modulating culture parameters.
