We present a non-convensional controlling the CPL signs of binaphthyl rings (1 and 2) carrying carboxylic acids as chiral ligands toward Eu(III) ions; 1 carries directly carboxylic acids, while 2 has two oxymethylene spacers between the ring and the acids. Although 1 and 2 have the same absolute configuration, insersion of two oxymethylene spacers to 1 between the ring of and the acids, 2 allows to induce the opposite signs of CPL signals at 5D0→7F1 and 5D0→7F2 transitions of Eu(III), whilst 1 and 2 have the same sign of CD bands at the first Cotton bands.
