Bronze-mean quasicrystal

2017.09.08

T. Dotera and his student S. Bekku collaborated with P. Ziherl (U. Ljubljana, Jožef Stefan Institute) have found the bronze-mean quasicrystal, in connection with metallic-mean three brothers, the golden mean, the silver mean and the bronze mean. The elder son, the Penrose tiling associated with the golden mean is the most famous quasicrystalline tiling in the history. More than forty years have passed since the first son was born. Also they have used numerical simulations to demonstrate that a disordered variant of this quasicrystal can be materialized in soft polymeric colloidal particles with a core-shell architecture.
