Tatsuhiko Ihara, a professor in the Faculty of Engineering, developed a filter that has a lot of superfine pores by processing aluminum powder.
The filter can be used to remove radioactive substance tritium from water, and is expected to decontaminate tainted water stored at the Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant.
