Traditions & History

In 1949, Osaka Technical College (founded in 1925) merged with Osaka Science and Engineering University (founded in 1943) to establish Kindai University. Over the past decades, we have created a comprehensive educational organization with a growing reputation.

1925 Osaka Technical College founded
1943 Osaka Science and Engineering University founded
1948 Fisheries Laboratory opened in Shirahama-cho, Wakayama Prefecture
1949 Kinki University established through the merger of Osaka Science and Engineering University and Osaka Technical College under Japan’s new education system
Established Faculty of Science and Engineering and Faculty of Commerce (later Faculty of Business and Economics)
1950 Established Junior College and Faculty of Law
1951 Name changed from Kinki University Foundation to Kinki University Educational Corporation
1952 Inaugurated master’s course in Graduate Schools of Commerce and Chemistry
Opened Yuasa Experimental Farm in Yuasa-cho, Wakayama Prefecture
1954 Established Faculty of Pharmacy
1957 Established Distance Learning Department (Junior College)
Opened Oishi Experimental Farm in Aridagawa-cho, Wakayama Prefecture
1958 Established Faculty of Agriculture
1959 Established Faculty of Engineering
1960 Established Distance Learning Department (Faculty of Law)
Opened Atomic Energy Research Institute
1966 Established Faculty of Humanity-Oriented Science and Engineering
1970 Inaugurated master’s course in Graduate Schools of Engineering and Law, and Ph.D. studies in Graduate School of Commerce
Held ceremony to commemorate 45th anniversary of foundation
1971 Opened Molecular Engineering Institute
